     Lots of people from Bangor come to Martin Ponds, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Chimney Pond Trail. During the days of summer at Martin Ponds temperatures are regularly in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and nighttime lows in the-10's for Martin Ponds. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is tremendous here at Martin Ponds, you can go for a hike along the Sand Bank Trail, and whitewater  
   paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Penobscot River - East Branch. If you need a place to stay Econo Lodge Inn & Suites is a good choice, and don't forget to take a great little visit to Avalanche Brook.
This lake is so wonderful. At Martin Ponds you can make out East Turner Mountain, and Roaring Brook Campground is a delightful campground nearby. This is a fine vicinity for folks who like lakes. Twin Ponds is a lake in
 
               the vicinity, and Martin Ponds is a pleasant place to visit for more than one day, Chimney Pond Campground is a pleasant place to camp nearby. The amount of precipitation that falls at Martin Ponds is close to the national average; July is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. If you come at the right time of year, Sandy Stream offers some brilliant whitewater, and you're possibly hooked on lakes, Sandy Stream Pond is one of those nearby. Americas Best Value Heritage Motor Inn is a wonderful spot to get some rest, and you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along the South Branch Trail.
