If you are in this part of Maine make sure to pay a visit to Maranacook Lake. Camping at Camp Laurel is always a great experience, and if you're going to from Augusta-Waterville, you won't be the only one. In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cobbosseecontee Stream, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Do check out Upper Narrows Pond near Maranacook Lake, it's a delightful lake; if you came to camp Augusta West Lakeside Resort is a brilliant location to do that. The high level of rain makes Maranacook Lake a relatively wet place; the month with most of the rain is November while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. | |

This lake is so wonderful. You'll discover a striking lake called Lower Narrows Pond near Maranacook Lake, and Maranacook Lake Upper Dam is a place that is near Maranacook Lake. This lake is so wonderful. The warmest time of the
year at Maranacook Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's, and nighttime lows all through the wintertime for Maranacook Lake tend
to be in the 0's. Cobbosseecontee Stream is a glorious whitewater spot close to Maranacook Lake; if you need a site to stay Winthrop Motel is a great choice.

Eaton Mountain
 | 28 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
