Lost Pond is a nice lake to visit. High temperatures at Lost Pond all through the summer months are in the 70's while overnight lows are mostly in the 50's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Lost Pond are in the-10's. Lost Pond is not the only location close by, Mud Pond is a close by lake; why not explore close by Ellis Brook if you're here at Lost Pond. This lake is so wonderful. If you like swamps, you're
in luck, Carry Bog is right close by, and Lost Pond is right by the Old Telos Tote Road.
If you like skiing, you're in luck; Big Squaw is in close proximity to Lost Pond, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Telephone Trail. There's so much to do here at Lost Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Frost Pond Campground is a great place for that, and float down the rapids of Ellis Brook in a kayak. Be careful coming to Lost Pond, you might

not ever wanna go back home again. If you get bored of Lost Pond, you could also take a look at close by Chamberlain Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Allagash Stream.
This lake is so wonderful. Lost Pond is a good place of common precipitation; through the month of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is February. The Carry Trail offers hiking at its best; a trip to Donnely Point is always a great idea.

Chesuncook Lake

I worked two summers for Great Northern Paper Company on Chesuncook Lake.  1967 and 68 were two of the last years the drive existed as it was replaced in the early 70's by truckers.  Also worked at Ripogenus Dam sluicing pulp into the Millinocket River and followed the wood down toward Millinocket.  Slept, ate in the Boom House.  Winston Morse was our boss the first year and Bert McBernie the second.  Nelson Lavasseur was the overall boss of the drive.  Chesuncook then could at times be covered by pulp wood often being towed down lake by the Edward Hilton a 70' tow boat that moved about 1/2 mile an hour under load....
