    Lost Pond is a lake worth visiting. Through the long summer days at Lost Pond highs are regularly in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures at Lost Pond dipping down into the 0's all through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Best Western Black Bear Inn & Conference Center is a pleasant spot to get some rest; you can have a glorious hiking adventure along the Shore Road Trail.
 
   Whitewater paddling is great on Piscataquis River, and hey, Greenland Brook is a wonderful local stream. Here at Lost Pond there are plenty of folks from Bangor; swamps are out of the ordinary places and Fitz Bog in close proximity to Lost Pond is no exception. Now, you may believe that's a load but there's even more exciting stuff to do here at Lost Pond. Kenduskeag Stream has a tremendous whitewater paddling spot nearby, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort  
               Inn Bangor.
This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Hardy Pond Trail. There's so much to do here at Lost Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Pushaw Lake Campground is a good place for that. A great deal of rainfall falls at Lost Pond; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Nearby lakes? Sure, Holland Pond is near Lost Pond, and Lost Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Villa Vaughn Campground is a great local campground.
Hiking along the Scutaze Trail is great fun, and tremendous skiing awaits you at New Hermon Mountain.
