    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Maine you can check out Lost Pond. Summer at Lost Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Lost Pond. Near Lost Pond you hit upon the Millinocket Lake Tote Road which is a great hiking trail, and in case you don’t mind getting dripping wet, you can always  
   go whitewater paddling on Shin Brook River. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Shin Pond Village Campground, and after a long day outdoors Patten Motel is a magnificent location to spend a night or two.
Pickerel Point is close by and always nice to visit; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Batch Brook. An average amount of precipitation falls at Lost Pond; July is the wettest month with most rain; the driest of the months is February.
 
               There is a good hiking trail close to Lost Pond called the Matagamon Tote Road, and whitewater paddling is good on Seboeis River.
You'll need more than a day to explore everything Lost Pond has to offer, you can camp at Matagamon Wilderness Campground; on a nice day you can take a hike along the Snowshoe Lake Road. Yep, outdoors entertaining things to do are really plentiful here at Lost Pond. A magnificent nearby hotel is Mt Chase Lodge & Country Inn; the peak of Jameson Ridge can be observed from Lost Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Take a look at nearby Lower Deadwater.
