This is a fine vicinity for folks who like lakes. Snowshoe Lake is a lake in close proximity, and a swamp like Lower Deadwater near Lost Pond has lots of attention-grabbing things to see. Get soaked paddling on Shin Brook River, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood       you can always check out close by Grand Lake Seboeis. From a rain point of view Lost Pond is a reasonably common site; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while February is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Pickerel Point is near Lost Pond and is a great place to pop by; close by you hit upon the Matagamon Tote Road which is a magnificent hiking trail. Batch Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth                  going to. There's so much to do here at Lost Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Homestead Lodge is a splendid location for that. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Millinocket Lake Tote Road is always a splendid adventure, and Jameson Ridge is stunning and can be spotted from here. High temperatures at Lost Pond during the months of summer are in the 70's while nighttime lows are frequently in the 50's. During the winter the highs are regularly in the 20's, and overnight lows in the-10's for Lost Pond. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors cool things the area near Lost Pond has to offer.
