In the event that you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Dead River - North Branch, and fine skiing awaits you at Saddleback. Lost Pond is a pretty wet place typically with a large amount of precipitation; most of the rain falls during August, and February meanwhile is the driest month. What a place this is for outdoors folks. If you came for an overnight stay Cathedral Pines Camping Area is a magnificent place to camp, and Moose River

| | - South Branch has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot nearby. A delightful swamp close to Lost Pond is Lower Hathan Bog, and the Morrell Trail is a nice hiking trail close by. This lake is so wonderful. Cupsuptic Campground is a delightful local campground, and Lost Pond is not the only site nearby, Caribou Bog is a nearby lake. the winter are ordinarily in the 20's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Lost Pond tend to be in the-10's. Halfmile Brook is a stream that you may come across while you're here, and a lake nearby is Otter Pond. On a good
day at Lost Pond you can take a hike along the Arnold Trail, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Arnold Pond Trail. This lake is so wonderful.

 | 2 PHOTOS I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises.... |
