Going for a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. Loon Pond is in the vicinity of Mill Pond Dam which is a pretty site without doubt worth checking out. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Loon Pond has to offer, you can camp at Augusta West Lakeside Resort. Loon Pond is a wet location       that gets a good deal of rainfall; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest of the months is September. Glide down the rapids of Cathance River in a kayak, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Mud Pond. All the outdoors enjoyable things in close proximity to Loon Pond will keep you coming back again and again. Winthrop Motel is a perfect site to get some rest, and an afternoon playing                  golf at Meadows Golf Course is always a diversion. Summertime at Loon Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the nighttime is somewhat colder of course, commonly in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's while the cold winter nights at Loon Pond are in the 10's. Stay the night at The Birches Campground, and paddling on Cobbosseecontee Stream is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful. From Loon Pond you get a tremendous vista of Springer Hill. Lakes? Sure, Sand Pond is close by.
