Going for a hike on the Intake Trail is always a good adventure, and of course, this is a nice neighborhood for folks who like lakes, Moosehead Lake is a lake close at hand. An average amount of rainfall falls at Long Pond; during the month of July you get the most rain around here while February is regularly the driest month. So much fun stuff to do at Long Pond, so little time. There's whitewater       on Moose River for all you adrenaline kick people, and you can stay the night at Seboomook wilderness Campground. West Outlet Dam is a beautiful site near Long Pond; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Round Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Lodge at Moosehead Lake, and if you need a spot to stay Bingham Motor Inn is a great choice. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to                  Long Pond. Summer night lows dip down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's, and night lows during the winter for Long Pond tend to be in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Near Long Pond you stumble on the Big Squaw Mountain Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and there are some great whitewater spots on Kennebec River - West Outlet.
