A pleasant spot to camp here at Long Pond is King & Bartlett Lake Camp, and there are some tremendous whitewater spots on Parlin Pond Stream. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Cupsuptic River, and do take a hike on the Bigelow Range Trail. Herbert Grand Hotel is a great location to get some rest, and you can never get enough of the wonderful skiing at Saddleback. This lake is so wonderful. Felker Pond is a nearby
lake that you could visit, and from Long Pond you obtain a splendid vista of Camera Hill.
A typical amount of rain falls here at Long Pond; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain; the driest month is February. High temperatures at Long Pond during the long summer days are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. Highs all through the winter are regularly in the 20's with temperatures at Long Pond dipping down into the-10's

               throughout winter nights.
This lake is so wonderful. Long Pond is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Black Arrow Lodge is a tremendous local campground; going for a hike along the Sally Mountain Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors amusing stuff the area close to Long Pond has to offer. While you're here at Long Pond, you could also visit beautiful Deer Pond; hiking along the Fire Warden Trail is pleasant fun. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Sugarloaf USA while you're here, and of course Kibby Stream is a striking stream that is worth stopping at.

I think you have your Maine goeography confused. Sugarloaf is a long way from Holeb Pond. Not somewhere I'd want to drive to after a long day outdoors....

Bugeye Pond

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....
