There's so much to do here at Long Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Duck Puddle Campground is a delightful place for that, and since you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby Augusta-Waterville. French Pond is a great lake in the neighborhood of Long Pond, and you can stay the night at Town Line Campsites. Crummett Brook flows through this area, and you can run the rapids of Sheepscot River. lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Sheepscot River - West Branch for all you adrenaline kick people, and there are other locations here than Long Pond, for example Dodge Pond. Whohoo, so many fun things in one place!
Long Pond is so good! If you need a location to stay Holiday Inn WATERVILLE is a fine choice, and the Hockomock Nature Trail is a tremendous hiking trail close by.

Eaton Mountain
 | 27 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
