If you like lakes and you're in this part of Maine you can check out Long Pond. One of the best things about Long Pond is its proximity to Black Beach, and the Kebo Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best. Be careful coming to Long Pond, you might not ever want to return home again. Johnnys Brook is in the neighborhood of Long Pond and is always a bliss to have a look at, and Acadia National Park is a very perfect place to go to. There's just no way somebody

| | can get bored here at Long Pond. Long Cove is reasonably near Long Pond, also Long Pond Dam is worth going to while you're here.
After a long day outdoors The Harborside Hotel and Marina is a great place to spend a night or two, and beaches are pleasant and Schoodic Beach is no exception. to camp here at Long Pond is Mountainview Campground; a pleasant swamp close to Long Pond is Schoodic Bog.
This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Basin Pond is around here; wonderful hiking is available along the Bar Island Trail.
Through the warmest time of the year at Long Pond highs are commonly in the 70's. Summer night lows fall down to the 50's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and night lows at Long Pond all through
the winter typically fall into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant close by hotel is Bar Harbor Inn, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Long Pond; Jessup Trail is a great local trail.
Get drenched paddling
on Union River - East Branch. Whitewater paddling is splendid on Narraguagus River - West Branch, and Little Pond is a good lake close by. Baker Hill is painless to spot from Long Pond, and Long Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Mountain View Campground is a great local campground.

We went there in September, but, it seemed like an ideal, quiet place for hikers who may want to get off the beaten track on a very commercial island. The showers were clean, the sites were clean and it was not the most expensive. Forewarned, the shuttle bus doesn't go there, price to pay for remoteness.... |
