A beautiful lake like Beaver Pond next to Long Pond is a delightful spot to take a look at. If you came to camp Cupsuptic Campground is a great location to do that; if you come at the right time of year, Dead River - North Branch offers some tremendous whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. Secret Pond is a good lake near Long Pond; going       for a hike along the Morrell Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. At Long Pond during the long summer days highs are in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Long Pond. All the water falling down from the sky makes Long Pond a wet spot; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and February is the month with the least                  moisture. If you love the outdoors, you'll fancy Long Pond. There's so much to do here at Long Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Cathedral Pines Camping Area is a good place for that; get yourself into a kayak and hit Kennebago River.
