Pelletier's Campground is a brilliant campground nearby, and in the event that you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Machias River. Clover Hill Campground is a perfect local campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Long Pond; Fox Brook       Trail is a splendid local trail. A good place for whitewater paddling next to Long Pond is Fish River; the Round Trail offers hiking at its best. The annual precipitation here at Long Pond is about average; most of the rain falls through August, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. There's great hiking along the Island Pond Trail, and Fish River Falls is always fun to check out.
