Sunken Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and if you came for an overnight stay Cobscook Bay State Park is a great location to camp. If you get bored of Long Lake, you could also go to nearby Bog Lake; paddling on Hobart Stream is so much fun. This is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Swamps like MacElroy Heath next to Long Lake make for fine places to stop at,       and visiting Roosevelt Campobello International Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. Summer at Long Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Long Lake dip into the 0's. The high level of rain makes Long Lake a quite wet spot; most of the rain falls all through November,                  and July is the month with the least moisture.
