If you came to camp Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds is a good location to do that, and after a long day outdoors Shiretown Motor Inn is a magnificent place to spend a night or two. Spaulding Lake is a fine lake in close proximity to Long Lake; Mattawamkeag River - East Branch is a tremendous whitewater spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Mattawamkeag River - West Branch       close to Long Lake, and pleasant hiking is available along the Kennedy Tote Road. The amount of precipitation that falls at Long Lake is close to the national average; the wettest month of the year is typically July, that's the one that rains the most, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Long Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Bear Mountain Lodge is a fine local campground, and the Potters Trail offers hiking at its best. You just can't                  picture the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the area near Long Lake has to offer. Lakes? Sure, Clark Pond is close at hand, and a pleasant close by hotel is Scottish Inns Houlton. For the period of the warm months, highs generally are in the 70's at Long Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's; overnight lows through the winter for Long Lake tend to be in the-10's. Colbroth Brook is a charming stream that is worth stopping at, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Long Lake; Pierce Tote Road is a delightful local trail.
