In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Meduxnekeag River - South Branch, and a great site to camp here at Long Lake is My Brothers Place. This lake is so wonderful. All the outdoors fun stuff near Long Lake will keep you coming back repeatedly.       The Pierce Tote Road is a good hiking trail in close proximity to Long Lake, and B Stream is a wonderful whitewater spot nearby. There are other locations here than Long Lake, for example Deep Lake; if you need a spot to stay Shiretown Motor Inn is a fine choice. Throughout the summer at Long Lake temperatures are mostly in the 70's. Summer night lows dip down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's while Long Lake                  night low temperatures during the winter are in the 0's. Not far from Long Lake, you'll locate Carry Lake which is a pretty lake, and close by you find the Kennedy Tote Road which is a good hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. A brilliant close by hotel is Scottish Inns Houlton, and there is a great hiking trail nearby called the Sweets Trail.
