If you are in this part of Maine make sure to pay a visit to Locke Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Nor-40 Campground, and a quick journey to Huckleberry Stream is undeniably a great idea. A large amount of precipitation falls at Locke Pond; the month with most of the rain is November while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Comfort Inn & Suites is a wonderful choice;

| | there are plenty of folks from Lewiston-Auburn here at Locke Pond. And if that's not sufficient, there's a lot more to do in the neighborhood of Locke Pond. Golf can be played at Wilson Lake Country Club, and the skiing at Titcomb is good. A lake close by is Robinson Pond, and a glorious location for whitewater paddling is Wilson Stream. Sand Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and the top of Zion Hill is easily seen from Locke Pond. Summer brings | |

highs in the 70's to Locke Pond while night lows are mostly in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's while the cold winter nights at Locke Pond are in the 0's. A perfect nearby hotel is Wilson Lake Inn, and Sandy River
is a good whitewater spot close by. Take a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and Twin Pond Campground is a great campground nearby.

Eaton Mountain
 | 29 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
