Matagamon Wilderness Campground is a fine local campground. There are some fine whitewater spots on Penobscot River - East Branch, and on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Matagamon Tote Road. All through the days of summer highs here at Little Mountain Catcher Pond get into the 70's. Through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. For the period       of the winter highs are in the 20's while Little Mountain Catcher Pond overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the-10's. If only every place had this much outdoors amusing things, what a great globe it would be. If you come at the right time of year, Millinocket Stream offers some splendid whitewater, of course you could also take a look at Soper Logan since you're here; it's not far at all. Dry warm beds await you at Katahdin Inn, and a lake                  close by is Scraggly Lake. The yearly rain here at Little Mountain Catcher Pond is about average; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while February is regularly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Little Mountain Catcher Pond is a splendid location to visit for more than one day, South Branch Pond Campground is a splendid location to camp nearby; there is a fine hiking trail nearby called the Millinocket Lake Tote Road.
