Good hiking is available along the Albany Mountain Trail, and you're possibly hooked on lakes, Little Pond is one of those close by. Man, is there a load of amusing stuff to do in the White Mountains. Going for a hike on the Cold Brook Trail is always a brilliant adventure, and there's some flowing water nearby, Alder Brook

The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Lily Pond tend to be in the 0's. You just have to like the White Mountains. Having a perfect time at Lily Pond is simple. Go for a hike on the Miles Notch Trail, and the top of Christian Hill is easily distinguished from Lily Pond. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Sunday River while you're here, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Crooked River. Lily Pond typically gets a great deal of rain; most of the rain falls through November, and September is the month with the least moisture.

Shelburne Trail

Beautiful trail, mostly easy grades. Lots of running water and a few hidden waterfalls along parts of the trail. You hear no traffic, almost no jets, just the sound of wild land around you. There is a nice campsite in a hemlock grove at the height of land, at the intersection of the Kenduskeag Trail. An easy half-day walk between the Shelburne gate (Connor Brook) and the Wild River Camp Ground in Bean's Purchase....

Cranmore Mountain
18 miles away
I have skied at Cranmore many times. The Mountain isn't huge, but has a good 1,200 vertical drop. There is plenty of trails for everyone, including a nice, long beginner run from the summit to the base. Cranmore has lots of steep runs too! The best thing ...

West Pond
18 miles away
West Pond is a truly special place, in the foothils of Mr. Washington. As you approach the pond from the South on Rt. 160, you are met by a breathtaking view of Mt. Washington which is 40 miles away. The water in west pond is crystal clear, and you can often hear the loons. There is a large area around the pond that is protected in tree growth, so the pond will never face additional stress of building. There is also no public access for boats, and that keeps it quiet and free of the kind of noise and congestion you see in popular lakes elsewhere....
