What a nice lake Lake Leonard is. There's so much to do here at Lake Leonard that you need to camp here for a while, Hospitality Woods RV Park is a magnificent spot for that; going for a hike on the Eagle Lake Trail is always a magnificent adventure. This lake is so wonderful. There are other sites here than Lake Leonard, for example Leonard Lake, and you can always enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Jesse Beach. This lake is so wonderful. Lake Leonard gets a typical amount of rain; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is February. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up. If you came to camp The Gatherings Family Campground is a glorious place to do that; golf can be played at White Birches Motel & Golf Course. Leonard. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Branch Lake Stream, and lakes are such calm spots, why not check out Branch Lake Stream. Don't leave Lake Leonard without first going for a hike
along the Blue Hill Trail, and Twilite Motel is a perfect place to get some rest. A journey to Acadia National Park is recommended, also Ellsworth Dam is worth a visit since you're here. Branch Lake Stream is a stream that you
may bump into while here; dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Ellsworth. The warmest time of the year at Lake Leonard arrives with high temperatures in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Through the wintertime highs are
generally in the 20's, and night lows at Lake Leonard through the wintertime regularly plunge into the 0's. If you're here at Lake Leonard, do take a visit to Black Point; if you come at the right time of year, Union River offers some great whitewater.

White Birches Campground
 | 14 miles away We went there in September, but, it seemed like an ideal, quiet place for hikers who may want to get off the beaten track on a very commercial island. The showers were clean, the sites were clean and it was not the most expensive. Forewarned, the shuttle bus doesn't go there, price to pay for remoteness.... |
Conners Nubble Trail
 | 14 miles away My wife and I and our two children (including son Conor, of course) hiked up Connor's Nubble in August, 2008. The Acadia National Park Brochure/Map identifies this little mountain as ''Connor's Nubble'' while the trail sign itself goes with ''Conner's Nubble.'' We hiked up Connor's Nubble from the south, off of the carriage road/bike trail that runs south along the west side of Eagle Lake. The hiking trail itself from the south approach is short, on the order of 1/3 mile. It's pretty steep, but not too challenging given its brevity. Once on top, the hiker is rewarded with sweeping views in all directions. The view of Eagle Lake is terrific, as is the gander at Cadillac Mountain. This is a very rewarding hike for such a short trail, and combined with a bike ride circumnavigating Eagle Lake, it makes for a terrific 3-hour jaunt.... |
