Do stop at Knights Pond Dam if you're here at Knights Pond, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Portland-South Portland here. Lakes? Sure, Blanchard Pond is in close proximity, and if you came to camp A Vacationland Campground is a great spot to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is delightful on Royal River, and after a long day outdoors Residence Inn Portland Downtown/Waterfront is a nice site to spend a night or two. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Chandler Brook, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Freeport Inn. need to camp here for a while, Twin Brooks Campground is a glorious spot for that, and the view of Bruce Hill is lovely. Knights Pond frequently gets a good deal of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is November, and September
meanwhile is the driest month. For the duration of the warm months highs here at Knights Pond get into the 80's, and the night is rather chillier of course, usually in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Knights Pond plunge into the 10's.

I'd recommend LOTS of bug sprays as the mosquitoes tend to swarm and are very plentiful this year. If you're not a fisherman but your children are...there are picnic tables for you to enjoy a book, needlepoint, or just relax and take in the fresh air.... |

Clean restrooms and laundry, paved roads, friendly and helpful staff, and what a view over the 3000 acre Audubon Property. A canoe or kayak ride is a must! Very close to the Eastern Trail for a scenic hike of nature and wildlife. A tranquil setting but yet close to shopping, fine dining and the beach. Not many activities on site, but no noise either. Also, a strong WiFi signal was nice for a change and cable TV with 70 channels at our level site. Highly recommend if staying for a week, month or the season. Plenty to do in the area.... |
