If you don't mind getting       covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Dead River, and Lower Enchanted Pond is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. The snow is splendid at Sugarloaf USA; do visit Call Pond, it's a lovely lake. A pleasant place for whitewater paddling in the neighborhood of Johns Pond is Enchanted Stream, and as expected East Branch Enchanted Stream flows through this area. Going for a hike on the Fire Warden Trail is always a fine adventure,                  and dry warm beds await you at Bingham Motor Inn. Johns Pond is a delightful place to visit for more than one day, Loon Echo Campground is a delightful place to camp nearby, and there is a wonderful hiking trail nearby called the Sally Mountain Trail. For the duration of the days of summer at Johns Pond temperatures are mostly in the 70's with night lows in the 50's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Johns Pond.
