After a long day outdoors Scottish Inns Houlton is a great spot to spend a night or two, and paddling on Meduxnekeag River - South Branch is so much fun. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff at Jewell Lake. Jewell Lake       is a magnificent spot to visit for more than one day, My Brothers Place is a magnificent spot to camp nearby, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Pierce Tote Road. Summer at Jewell Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's with temperatures at Jewell Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.                  This lake is so wonderful. Shiretown Motor Inn is a fine site to get some rest, and Wilde Pines Campground is a delightful local campground. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Bigrock is near Jewell Lake, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Kennedy Tote Road.
