A perfect place for whitewater paddling close to James Pond is Sheepscot River - West Branch; while you're here, you could also stop by striking Sheepscot Pond. Holiday Inn WATERVILLE is a delightful place to get some rest; the Hockomock Nature Trail is a great hiking trail close by. If you have a thing about the outdoors, you'll have a thing about James Pond. There's so much to do here at James Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Pine Ridge Campgrounds is

| | a perfect location for that, and you can make out Crummett Mountain from James Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Turner Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and if you're here, you could take a look at Jones Brook. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Waterville Inn, and you can stay the night at Town Line Campsites. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of people from Augusta-Waterville here. Eaton Mountain
 | 27 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
