If you like lakes and you're in this part of Maine you can check out Horseshoe Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Little Spencer Stream is so much fun, and you can have a good hiking adventure along the Bigelow Range Trail. Put some time aside to spend at Gore Rapids if you're here at Horseshoe Pond. There's so much to do here at Horseshoe Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Black Arrow Lodge is a wonderful location for that. Nearby lakes? Sure,

| | Beck Pond is near Horseshoe Pond, and whitewater paddling is good on Spencer Stream. Yep, outdoors cool stuff to do are really bountiful here at Horseshoe Pond. Looking for something in close proximity to Horseshoe Pond? Cedar Pond is around here, and do take a hike on the Fire Warden Trail. The top of Black Nubble is easily distinguished from Horseshoe Pond, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Sally Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful. | |

campground. All through the summer months at Horseshoe Pond temperatures are typically in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are frequently in the 20's, and night lows

Bugeye Pond
 | 19 miles away 2 PHOTOS I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises.... |
