    If you are in Franklin county it's always a good idea to stop by Horseshoe Pond. Go for a hike on the Arnold Pond Trail, and whitewater paddling is good on Moose River - South Branch. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Arnold Trail is always a perfect adventure, and Horseshoe Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Cathedral Pines Camping Area is a great local campground.
A great deal of precipitation falls
 
   at Horseshoe Pond; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is usually the driest month. Any time is a perfect time at Horseshoe Pond if you adore the outdoors. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Crosby Pond; do visit Arnold Pond Dam if you're here. Don't leave Horseshoe Pond without first going for a hike along the Morrell Trail, and why not pop by a swamp like Lower Hathan Bog since you're  
               here at Horseshoe Pond.
This is a pleasant area for folks who like lakes. Mud Pond is a lake in the neighborhood, and Dead River - North Branch has a perfect whitewater paddling spot nearby. A tremendous spot to camp here at Horseshoe Pond is Cupsuptic Campground, and hey, Gotta ski right? Saddleback is a good place to do that. At Horseshoe Pond through the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. All through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Horseshoe Pond.

I've been visiting Bugeye Pond for as long as I've been alive as my family owns one of the two camps on it and I've always found it to be a very pristine and relaxing place. Aside from snowmobile noise in the winter and traffic on route 27, I would have to say it is the most gorgeous place in Maine. As for the fishing, I haven't been there since I actually began fishing so I can't really attest to that. My parents were up there this past weekend and said there were people on the pond all weekend long, but they never saw anybody land a brookie despite the abundant rises....

...2003 and have since made significant improvements including a 46% increase in terrain, two quad chairlifts, new family/beginner area, spectacular post & beam base lodge, snowmaking coverage expanded to 85%, lengthened and increased the capacity of the Rangeley Chair, obtained approval of a 10 Year Plan for the mountain and a 4-season resort village, and added on-mountain lodging with the Rock Pond, South Branch and Mountain Brook Condominiums. A Dopplemayr quad chairlift replaces the Kennebago T-bar which was difficult to ride because of the steep terrain. The new chair will now provide easy access to the spectacular high-elevation advanced terrain with incredible views of the lakes and Western Maine Mountains.
