Whitewater paddling is good on Seboeis River, and if you need a place to stay Katahdin Inn is a splendid choice. This lake is so wonderful. On a good day at Horseback Pond you can take a hike along the Snowshoe Lake Road, and if you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Shin Brook River. Just can't get enough of Horseback Pond. Horseback Pond is splendid enough to spend more than       a day at, Shin Pond Village Campground is a splendid local campground. The Matagamon Tote Road is a glorious hiking trail close to Horseback Pond, and a great place to camp here at Horseback Pond is Umcolcus Sporting Camps. Near Horseback Pond you hit upon the Jerry Pond Tote Road which is a fine hiking trail, and if you like swamps you're in luck, Hobart Deadwater is right nearby. For the period of the months of summer at Horseback Pond highs are generally                  in the 70's; the nighttime is rather chillier of course, generally in the 50's.
