Hogan Pond is not the only spot close by, Little Androscoggin River Reservoir is a close by lake; there are some great whitewater spots on Little Androscoggin River. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Crooked River, and if you get bored of Hogan Pond you could also explore nearby Whitney Pond. Dean Hill is beautiful and can be spotted from Hogan Pond, and at Hogan Pond you always meet someone from Lewiston-Auburn. The skiing at Shawnee
Peak is nice; don't forget to take a brilliant little tour to Meadow Brook.
If you need a place to stay Residence Inn Auburn is a splendid choice; if you like skiing, you're in luck; Lost Valley is quite near. The high level of precipitation makes Hogan Pond a reasonably wet location; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain, and September on the other hand is the driest. Welchville Dam is beautiful and it's in the vicinity of Hogan Pond,

and you should stop at The Bar when you're here.
But wait, there's more to do in the vicinity of Hogan Pond. A magnificent close by hotel is Pleasant Mountain Inn, and Two Lakes Camping is a glorious local campground. All through the summer, highs commonly are in the 70's at Hogan Pond, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's; through the dark hours in the winter at Hogan Pond temperatures sink to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Hemlock Camping while you're here at Hogan Pond; playing golf is lots of fun at Poland Spring Golf Course.
Just can't get enough of Hogan Pond.

Crooked River
My sister and I put in just below eddes falls this summer and kayaked all the way to sebago lake. Nice trip....My friend Dan and I ran part of this section last summer. Instead of putting in at Scribner's Mill, we launched from Edes Falls, just above the Rapids. It was a good inroduction to whitewater. Dan flipped within the first five minutes, but being that the water is relatively shallow, he did little more than get wet on a hot summers day. The Route 302 bridge is a logical pull out spot. There is a large mass of debris blocking passage of the river there. The only tricky part is that the walls of the riverband are steep and slippery, so it helps to have someone with you for the portage....

Chaffin Pond

This is a nice small pond just off of 302 but you can't hear any of the busy traffic. I'd recommend LOTS of bug sprays as the mosquitoes tend to swarm and are very plentiful this year. If you're not a fisherman but your children are...there are picnic tables for you to enjoy a book, needlepoint, or just relax and take in the fresh air....
