Mattawamkeag River - West Branch is a splendid whitewater spot close to Hidden Pond; close by you stumble on the Pierce Tote Road which is a wonderful hiking trail. This is a great area for folks who like lakes. Mud Pond is a lake in the vicinity, and going for a hike on the Sweets Trail is always a good adventure. The yearly precipitation here at Hidden Pond is about average; July       is the month that gets the most rain while February is frequently the driest month. Don't forget to take a good little spree to Collis Brook; you can run the rapids of Mattawamkeag River - East Branch. This lake is so wonderful. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Bigrock is near Hidden Pond. Lakes are glorious; Beaver Pond is a lake that's in close proximity to Hidden Pond, and there is a pleasant hiking trail nearby called the Kennedy Tote Road. Having                  a perfect time at Hidden Pond is painless. If you need a spot to stay Shiretown Motor Inn is a fine choice. There's so much to do here at Hidden Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Wilde Pines Campground is a fine spot for that. Stay the night at Bear Mountain Lodge, and Scottish Inns Houlton is a great place to get some rest. For the period of the months of summer at Hidden Pond highs are commonly in the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's.
