There's so much to do here at Hay Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Matagamon Wilderness Campground is a good place for that, and do check out Soper Logan, it's a charming lake. Summertime at Hay Pond comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Highs throughout the winter are regularly in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Hay Pond. You can run the rapids of Penobscot River - East Branch

| | right next door to Hay Pond, and Hay Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit. If only every site had this much outdoors cool stuff, what a great earth it would be. Hay Mountain is clearly visible from Hay Pond, and you are next to Deep Cove since you're here. If you came to camp South Branch Pond Campground is a nice place to do that, and there's some flowing water nearby, Little Hay Brook is a stream you can pop by while you're here. here at Hay Pond is about average; the wettest month of the year is typically July, that's the one that rains the most, and February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Spring
Brook Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A nice spot for whitewater paddling near Hay Pond is Millinocket Stream; there are magnificent spots to look at along the Matagamon Tote Road. If you need a site to stay Econo Lodge Inn & Suites is a delightful choice; you can go for a hike on the Jerry Pond Tote Road.
