    A visit to Hay Lake is always a good idea. At Hay Lake throughout the summertime highs are in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Hay Lake are in the-10's. In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Penobscot River - East Branch; a splendid location to camp here at Hay Lake is Matagamon Wilderness Campground. Looking for some flowing  
   water? Try Little Hay Brook; if you get bored of Hay Lake you could also stop at nearby Little Mud Pond.
Camping is available at Shin Pond Village Campground, and the Matagamon Tote Road offers hiking at its best. So many entertaining things right next door to Hay Lake, truly tremendous. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Jerry Pond Tote Road, and a lake nearby is Marble Pond. Hay Lake is right by the Snowshoe Lake Road, and Hay Mountain is clearly visible
 
               from Hay Lake.
An average amount of rainfall falls at Hay Lake; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Katahdin Inn is a glorious choice, and whitewater paddling is wonderful on Shin Brook River. This lake is so wonderful.
