    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Hay Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Hay Lake; Snowshoe Lake Road is a brilliant local trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Penobscot River - East Branch. Stay the night at Matagamon Wilderness Campground, and get your pulse rate up on the great whitewater of Shin Brook River. The amount of rain that falls at Hay Lake is close  
   to the national average; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
A quick journey to Little Hay Brook close to Hay Lake is a magnificent idea, obviously you could also pop by Little Mud Pond if you're here; it's not far at all. If you need a spot to stay Patten Motel is a nice choice, and there's perfect hiking along the Jerry Pond Tote Road. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Hay
 
               Lake has to offer, you can camp at Shin Pond Village Campground; you acquire a pleasant panorama of Hay Mountain from here.
Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place! Hay Lake is excellent! Dry warm beds await you at Mt Chase Lodge & Country Inn, and don't leave Hay Lake without first going for a hike along the Matagamon Tote Road. This lake is so wonderful. At Hay Lake through the summer months highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's with temperatures at Hay Lake dipping down into the-10's during winter nights.
