Try Baxter Brook; if you've had enough of Hannigan Pond, Gould Pond is close by. For the period of the warm months at Hannigan Pond highs are frequently in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. During the winter       highs are in the 20's while Hannigan Pond overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. Skiing at Bigrock is one of those things you just should do, and going for a hike on the Potters Trail is always a great adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Drews Lake Dam is an interesting thing to check out; float down the rapids of Mattawamkeag River - East Branch in a kayak. On a splendid day at Hannigan Pond you can take a hike along the Pierce Tote Road,                  and Scottish Inns Houlton is a perfect site to get some rest. That right there is a load already, but it continues; Hannigan Pond has it all. After a long day outdoors Shiretown Motor Inn is a wonderful place to spend a night or two, and Hannigan Pond is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Wilde Pines Campground is a magnificent local campground. There is a nice hiking trail in the neighborhood of Hannigan Pond called the Kennedy Tote Road. Get yourself into a kayak and hit B Stream, and you're probably into lakes, Bradbury Lake is one of those close by.
