You believe that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Wilde Pines Campground is a good local campground, and you can run the rapids of Mattawamkeag River - East Branch. This lake is so wonderful. You're probably addicted to lakes, Mud Pond is one of those close by, and going for a hike on       the Pierce Tote Road is always a great adventure. Dry warm beds await you at Shiretown Motor Inn, and of course, this is a wonderful region for folks who like lakes, Hidden Pond is a lake nearby. There are magnificent places to explore along the Sweets Trail; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Little Mill Brook. During the long summer days at Half Moon Pond highs are regularly in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. Daytime highs all through                  the winter are in the 20's; overnight lows in the-10's for Half Moon Pond. The amount of rainfall that falls at Half Moon Pond is close to the national average; throughout the month of July you get the most rain around here, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. What would winter be without some skiing at Bigrock.
