Half Moon Pond gets a common amount of annual precipitation; July is when you get the most rain here, and February on the other hand is the driest. Little Mill Brook flows through this vicinity, and on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Pierce Tote Road. This lake is so wonderful. There is a brilliant hiking trail right next door to Half Moon Pond called the Sweets       Trail, and after a long day outdoors Shiretown Motor Inn is a good place to spend a night or two. This is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. You can run the rapids of Mattawamkeag River - East Branch in close proximity to Half Moon Pond, and Half Moon Pond is not the only place nearby, Mud Pond is a nearby lake. During the summer here at Half Moon Pond, high temperatures typically get into the 70's, and the overnight is a little cooler                  of course, ordinarily in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are mostly in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Half Moon Pond are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Wilde Pines Campground is always a good experience. Mattawamkeag River - West Branch is a brilliant whitewater spot right next door to Half Moon Pond, and if you came to camp Bear Mountain Lodge is a good place to do that.
