You can run the rapids of Nezinscot River near Gulf Island Pond, and of course, this is a perfect region for folks who like lakes, Androscoggin River Reservoir is a lake in close proximity. High temperatures at Gulf Island Pond all through the summer months are in the 80's, and through the night it       cools down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are regularly in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Gulf Island Pond fall into the 10's. Chandler Brook is a glorious whitewater spot next to Gulf Island Pond, and Gulf Island Pond is a fine site to camp, Maine Campground Owners Association is a fine site. This lake is so wonderful. If you're looking for a                  beach in close proximity to Gulf Island Pond, we recommend Auburn Municipal Beach; there's some exciting stuff to make out at Gulf Island Dam close to Gulf Island Pond. The great folks of Lewiston-Auburn like to hang out close by, and you get a brilliant vista of Mount Giles from here. This lake is so wonderful. Lost Valley is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood; after a long day outdoors Maine Motel & Cabins is a great site to spend a night or two.
