If you need a location to stay Lodge at Moosehead Lake is a pleasant choice, and there's pleasant hiking along the Gulf Hagas Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Grindstone Pond; Number Four Mountain Trail is a delightful local trail, and Davis Brook is in close proximity to Grindstone Pond and is always a bliss to visit. Everybody nearby loves skiing at Big Squaw; Greenwood Mountain is wonderful and can be observed from here. Pond temperatures are typically in the 70's. Summer night lows drop down to the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Grindstone Pond temperatures descend to the-10's.
You can run the rapids of Big Wilson Stream close to Grindstone Pond; a pleasant spree to Beetham Swale is a fine way to spend an afternoon.
