     Nearby lakes? Sure, Hobart Bog is near Great Works Pond, and Great Works Pond is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Cobscook Bay State Park is a fine local campground. Now, you may think that's loads but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Great Works Pond. It's always pleasant to visit Camp Rips, and you can run the rapids of Dennys River. Preston Brook is a wonderful local stream; a visit to Roosevelt Campobello International Park is recommended.  
   There's whitewater on Cathance Stream for all you thrill seekers.
Great Works Pond ordinarily gets a good deal of precipitation; November is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is July. You could also go to Bog Lake since you're here at Great Works Pond; it's close by, and the scenery at Great Works Dam is beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. A nice place to camp here at Great Works Pond is Knowlton's Seashore Campground; the view
 
               of Birch Hill is delightful.
The warmest time of the year at Great Works Pond comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's with temperatures at Great Works Pond dipping down into the 0's all through winter nights.
