There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Martin Stream, and why not a little side tour to Robinson Brook. The high level of rain makes Gould Pond a reasonably wet location; during November this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. Gould Pond is close to Weymouth Pond Dam which is a delightful location beyond doubt worth checking out, and Halfmoon Pond is a great lake nearby. This lake is so wonderful. | | Ridge Road is perfect fun. There's so much to do here at Gould Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Nature Way's Campground is a great place for that; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Sebasticook River. Lakes? Sure, Mower Pond is in the neighborhood. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Gould Pond has to offer, you can camp at Palmyra Golf and RV Resort. This lake is so wonderful. is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood; a round of golf at nearby Dexter Municipal Golf Course is a glorious way to kill some time. If you fancy the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Gould Pond. Why not visit a swamp
like Martin Bog if you're here at Gould Pond; after a long day outdoors Pittsfield Motor Inn is a fine place to spend a night or two. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Gould Pond; the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, generally
in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Gould Pond.

Eaton Mountain
 | 29 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
