Interesting geology is available here; Carter Bluff is near Giles Pond, and Giles Pond is right by the Eagle Lake Trail. Not far from Giles Pond, you'll stumble on Little Dutton Pond which is a pretty lake, and the Peaked Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best. Dunker Hill is clearly visible from Giles Pond, and camping is available at Parks Pond Campground. This lake is so       wonderful. A tremendous close by hotel is White Birches Country Club, and camping at Eastbrook Campground is always a tremendous experience. The yearly rainfall here at Giles Pond is about average; the month with most of the rain is November, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Any time is a great time at Giles Pond if you go for the outdoors. If you come at the right time of year, Union River - West Branch offers some great whitewater, and Comfort                  Inn Ellsworth is a good spot to get some rest. There are some good whitewater spots on Union River - East Branch, and unsurprisingly Archer Brook is a stunning stream that is worth going to. Summertime highs at Giles Pond typically tend to be in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's, and overnight lows through the winter for Giles Pond tend to be in the 0's.
