All the water falling down from the sky makes Getchel Lakes a wet place; most of the rain falls during November while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Get your heart pumping on the great whitewater of Grand Lake Stream, and on a tremendous day it's a splendid idea to spend the day at       Dawn Marie Beach. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Machias River, and possibly you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Third Machias Lake is just a very short distance away. During the summer, highs generally are in the 70's at Getchel Lakes while night lows are usually in the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime                  at Getchel Lakes temperatures fall to the 0's. Getchel Lakes is a brilliant place to visit for more than one day, Old Farm Inn is a brilliant place to camp nearby, and Keenes Lake Camping Grounds is a wonderful campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Some close by water includes Mutton Cove Brook, and dry warm beds await you at Bar Harbor Inn. And that's not all you can do here at Getchel Lakes.
