    The beauty of Frost Pond is reason enough to stop by. Frost Pond gets a typical amount of rainfall; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. This site rules, just look at all the entertaining things to do close to Frost Pond. Big Squaw has fine slopes and a friendly staff, and after a long day outdoors Lodge at Moosehead Lake is a splendid spot to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful.  
   If you came for an overnight stay Chimney Pond Campground is a magnificent place to camp; you'll come across a lovely lake called Ripogenus Lake.
There are splendid sites to look at along the Abol Trail, and get your pulse rate up on the tremendous whitewater of Penobscot River - West Branch. Camping is available at Frost Pond Campground; going for a hike on the Old Telos Tote Road is always a tremendous adventure. This lake is so wonderful.
Through
 
               the warm days of summer, highs mostly are in the 70's at Frost Pond. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Frost Pond. There is a glorious hiking trail right next door to Frost Pond called the Blue Trail, and a beautiful lake like Chesuncook-Ripogenus Lake is a magnificent place to check out. The scenery at Ripogenus Dam near Frost Pond is striking, and a tremendous site for whitewater paddling is Nesowadnehunk Stream.

Chesuncook Lake
I worked two summers for Great Northern Paper Company on Chesuncook Lake.  1967 and 68 were two of the last years the drive existed as it was replaced in the early 70's by truckers.  Also worked at Ripogenus Dam sluicing pulp into the Millinocket River and followed the wood down toward Millinocket.  Slept, ate in the Boom House.  Winston Morse was our boss the first year and Bert McBernie the second.  Nelson Lavasseur was the overall boss of the drive.  Chesuncook then could at times be covered by pulp wood often being towed down lake by the Edward Hilton a 70' tow boat that moved about 1/2 mile an hour under load....
