    A visit to Fourth Debsconeag Lake is always a good idea. If you want a great time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Fourth Debsconeag Lake. Penobscot River - West Branch has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby. There's so much to do here at Fourth Debsconeag Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Chimney Pond Campground is a good place for that. You can never get enough of the brilliant skiing at Big Squaw, and if you're here you can take  
   a hike along the Telephone Trail. From a precipitation point of view Fourth Debsconeag Lake is a relatively common place; most of the rain falls all through July while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
At Fourth Debsconeag Lake during the summer highs are in the 70's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. All through the winter highs are commonly in the 20's; winter nights come with lows
 
               in the-10's to Fourth Debsconeag Lake. You'll come across a pretty lake called Moose Pond near Fourth Debsconeag Lake, and you can stay the night at Frost Pond Campground. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Katahdin Inn is a splendid site to spend a night or two, and on a nice day you can take a hike along the Abol Trail.
A beautiful lake like Stink Pond near Fourth Debsconeag Lake is a splendid place to go to, and in the event that you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Nahmakanta Stream. Have a splendid hiking adventure along the Blue Trail.

I worked two summers for Great Northern Paper Company on Chesuncook Lake.  1967 and 68 were two of the last years the drive existed as it was replaced in the early 70's by truckers.  Also worked at Ripogenus Dam sluicing pulp into the Millinocket River and followed the wood down toward Millinocket.  Slept, ate in the Boom House.  Winston Morse was our boss the first year and Bert McBernie the second.  Nelson Lavasseur was the overall boss of the drive.  Chesuncook then could at times be covered by pulp wood often being towed down lake by the Edward Hilton a 70' tow boat that moved about 1/2 mile an hour under load....
