Open Hearth Inn is a splendid site to get some rest, and close by you discover the Great Long Pond Trail which is a great hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. The Eagle Lake Trail is a nice hiking trail next to Fosters Pond, and there are some good whitewater spots on Union River. Fosters Pond gets

Conners Nubble Trail
 | My wife and I and our two children (including son Conor, of course) hiked up Connor's Nubble in August, 2008. The Acadia National Park Brochure/Map identifies this little mountain as ''Connor's Nubble'' while the trail sign itself goes with ''Conner's Nubble.'' We hiked up Connor's Nubble from the south, off of the carriage road/bike trail that runs south along the west side of Eagle Lake. The hiking trail itself from the south approach is short, on the order of 1/3 mile. It's pretty steep, but not too challenging given its brevity. Once on top, the hiker is rewarded with sweeping views in all directions. The view of Eagle Lake is terrific, as is the gander at Cadillac Mountain. This is a very rewarding hike for such a short trail, and combined with a bike ride circumnavigating Eagle Lake, it makes for a terrific 3-hour jaunt.... |
