In Maine there are many beautiful lakes, Forest Lake is one of them. Here at Forest Lake you'll almost certainly meet some people from Portland-South Portland, and Forest Lake is not the only location close by, Highland Lake is a close by lake. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Forest Lake while overnight lows are generally in the 50's. All through the winter the highs are regularly in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Forest Lake. Forest

a brilliant spot to spend a night or two; Forest Lake is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Twin Brooks Campground is a perfect local campground. Everybody close by loves skiing at Shawnee Peak, and a delightful nearby
hotel is Howard Johnson Hotel. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Royal River offers some tremendous whitewater, and Atherton Hill is clearly visible from Forest Lake. This lake is so wonderful.
Near Forest Lake you locate a golf course called Spring Meadows Golf Course; get yourself into a kayak and hit Chandler Brook.

 | This is a nice small pond just off of 302 but you can't hear any of the busy traffic. I'd recommend LOTS of bug sprays as the mosquitoes tend to swarm and are very plentiful this year. If you're not a fisherman but your children are...there are picnic tables for you to enjoy a book, needlepoint, or just relax and take in the fresh air.... |

Very close to the Eastern Trail for a scenic hike of nature and wildlife. A tranquil setting but yet close to shopping, fine dining and the beach. Not many activities on site, but no noise either. Also, a strong WiFi signal was nice for a change and cable TV with 70 channels at our level site. Highly recommend if staying for a week, month or the season. Plenty to do in the area.... |
