There are some great whitewater spots on Baskahegan Stream, and you can spot Bear Mountain from Flood Lake. So much amusing stuff to do at Flood Lake, so little time. Scottish Inns Houlton is a good location to get some rest. All through the summer months highs here at Flood Lake get into the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Grand Lake Stream; let's not forget Orie Lake Stream which is a stream that you may bump into while here. Clifford Lake
16 miles away
Clifford Lake is very isolated . You can get their via route 9 or Route 1 in Princeton. I would recommend a recent typo map and asking plenty of guestions from the locals. There is a small camping area. My last trip there (92) I had a truck and it was needed to traverse one road that comes to mind. The fishing was excellent ( pickerel averaged 20 in.) . Hunting in that area was, should I say, productive . ...
