    First Roach Pond is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. A glorious close by hotel is Lodge at Moosehead Lake, and what would winter be without some skiing at Big Squaw. Go for a hike on the Big Spencer Mountain Trail, and there's whitewater on Pleasant River - West Branch for all you thrill seekers. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Bingham Motor Inn is a great place to spend a night or two, and going for a hike on the  
   Number Four Mountain Trail is always a tremendous adventure.
Not far from First Roach Pond you obtain some tremendous water scenery at Roach Pond Dam, and why not a little side journey to Lagoon Brook. Man, is there a load of exciting stuff to do in the neighborhood of First Roach Pond. There's so much to do here at First Roach Pond that you need to camp here for a while, South Inlet Campground is a perfect spot for that, and there are some magnificent
 
               whitewater spots on Roach River. This lake is so wonderful.
First Roach Pond is a good spot of common rain; throughout July this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. High temperatures at First Roach Pond during the warm months are in the 70's. Summer night lows drop down to the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 20's; after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at First Roach Pond fall into the-10's. You'll need more than a day to discover everything First Roach Pond has to offer, you can camp at Casey's Spencer Bay Campground, and don't leave First Roach Pond without first going for a hike along the Gulf Hagas Trail.
