Get yourself into a kayak and hit Blue Hill Falls, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the Blue Hill Trail. During the summertime months highs here at First Pond reach the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are frequently in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to First Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night       at Sunshine Campground, and dry warm beds await you at Eggemoggin Oceanfront Lodge. Take a look at nearby Clapps Meadow, and a day at gorgeous Birchhead Shore in the neighborhood of First Pond is a magnificent thing to do. The annual precipitation here at First Pond is about average; during the month of November you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is February. Seven Star Hill is pretty and can be seen from First Pond, and hey, Carleton                  Stream is a nice local stream. This lake is so wonderful. There is a splendid hiking trail near First Pond called the Bald Mountain Trail, and Allen Point is not far at all. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this site. First Pond is a delightful spot to visit for more than one day, Robin Hood Camp is a delightful spot to camp nearby; if you need a place to stay Twilite Motel is a great choice.
