During the warm days of summer at First Lake highs are regularly in the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's while First Lake overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. First Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day       at, Keenes Lake Camping Grounds is a delightful local campground, and Second Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. This lake is so wonderful. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can check out Canaan Dam; camping at Big Lake Campground is always a wonderful experience. This site is so good, just check out all the amusing things to do near First Lake. If you need a spot to stay Bar Harbor Inn is a good choice. Get your heart pumping on                  the wonderful whitewater of Machias River; why not a little side trip to Dead Stream.
