     Why not go to Second Lake Dam while you're here. You'll need more than a day to explore everything First Lake has to offer, you can camp at Keenes Lake Camping Grounds. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at First Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Big Lake Campground is a delightful location for that; dry warm beds await you at Bar Harbor Inn. Dead Stream is a great local stream, and if you come at the right time of year, Old Stream  
   offers some splendid whitewater. So many fun things to do at First Lake, so little time. You'll come across a beautiful lake called Horse Lake near First Lake.
Drift down the rapids of Machias River in a kayak, and lakes are such peaceful spots, why not explore Second Lake. First Lake is a pretty wet place regularly with much rainfall; November is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is June. During the days of summer here at First
 
               Lake, high temperatures commonly get into the 70's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for First Lake.

Clifford Lake is very isolated . You can get their via route 9 or Route 1 in Princeton. I would recommend a recent typo map and asking plenty of guestions from the locals. There is a small camping area. My last trip there (92) I had a truck and it was needed to traverse one road that comes to mind. The fishing was excellent ( pickerel averaged 20 in.) . Hunting in that area was, should I say, productive . ...
