You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff at First Lake. While you're here at First Lake, you could also go to pretty Mountain Catcher Pond, and the Jerry Pond Tote Road offers hiking at its best. A wonderful close by hotel is Katahdin Inn; a spree to Big Logan is always a good idea. At First Lake you can spot Horse Mountain, and there's fine hiking along the Matagamon Tote Road. Grand Lake Matagamon       is a nearby lake that you could visit, and if you're here, you could have a look at Trout Brook. Paddling on Penobscot River - East Branch is so much fun. You'll need more than a day to look at everything First Lake has to offer, you can camp at Matagamon Wilderness Campground. First Lake gets a common amount of rain; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. First Lake                  is in the vicinity of Grand Lake Dam which is a pretty location absolutely worth checking out. There's so much to do here at First Lake that you need to camp here for a while, South Branch Pond Campground is a good place for that. During the months of summer, highs generally are in the 70's at First Lake, and the overnight is a tad chillier of course, generally in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at First Lake temperatures drop to the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is great on Millinocket Stream, and First Lake is right by the Munsungan Lake Tote Road.   Katahdin Inn, Millinocket 26 miles away The Econo Lodge is located at the northern end of the Appalachian Trail.
