Tyler Pond is a nearby lake that you could go to, and after a long day outdoors Fairfield Inn & Suites Augusta is a brilliant site to spend a night or two. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Fairbanks Pond. Through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures at Fairbanks Pond dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. Very scenic scenery and glorious skiing is what you get at Eaton Mountain;

some smiling people from Augusta-Waterville here. There's so much to do here at Fairbanks Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Whisperwood Lodge & Cottages is a great place for that. Fairbanks Pond is a relatively wet place
mostly with a large amount of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is commonly November, that's the one that rains the most while February is frequently the driest month. If you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Civic Center is a splendid choice.

Eaton Mountain
 | 19 miles away 3 PHOTOS Eaton Mountain provides affordable and convenient skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing to the greater Waterville/Skowhegan area. The mountain boasts a suprising variety of terrain for a compact ski area including glades, challenging steeps, and classic New England style trails. Most of the area is covered with snowmaking and is lit for nightskiiing. Equipment rentals and lessons are available. The base lodge has a snackbar and provides a place to warm up by the wood stove and meet friends. The ski area has new owners as of November 2008 and will not be operating for the 2008-09 ski season. The new owners will be taking the time to make improvements and prepare for a grand reopening in the fall of 2009. Immediate improvements are planned to include an all new snowtubing facility and widening of the Moose slope for a new terrain park. The ski area is located on Lambert Road, just off Route 2 between Skowhegan and Canaan.... |
